About

Pictured: It’s probably a bill…

My name is Melissa and I live in Texas with my husband, our kids, and pets. I’ve loved drawing ever since I was a little girl, but I didn’t get bitten by the writing bug until junior high when I sat down one summer and wrote my first novel. [It was 130-something pages long, and more than likely completely awful—but I felt so accomplished!]

Since then I’ve written short stories [that aren’t very short], poetry [some of which has been published, surprisingly] and the occasional comic series; but Atlantis: TVC is the first prose I have actually sat down and created with the intention of having other people read. I’m really hoping that people like my style, and enjoy reading my creations as much as I enjoy writing them!

My birthday is September 5th—which is fine by me because I love autumn! There is nothing better than curling up with a good book or an interesting video game and a hot mug of tea when it’s cold and cruddy outside. I enjoy all different kinds of food, but I adore sushi, good guacamole, Korean BBQ [Galbi! *drools*], and fancy-pants pizza where they put stuff like spinach and artichoke hearts on it and the sauce is chipotle ranch. I also have a major sweet tooth since having my daughter, and enjoy taro smoothies [with boba], frozen custard, and tres leches cake as well.

As you can guess, I am a fan of animation and comics. Some of my favorite all-time series are Sailor Moon, Batman: The Animated Series, Fushigi Yuugi, Magic Knights Rayearth, Outlaw Star, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Princess Tutu, and Rocket Girls. More recent favorites are Steven Universe, Toradora!, Log Horizon, Garo: The Animation, Rage of Bahamut: Genesis, One Punch Man, My Hero Academia, and Rise of the Shield Hero.
